  • the holder and the possible input device are removed from the scanner and the images are detached from the holder.
  • the detached images can now be returned to their storing location, such as image archives.
  • the above-described arrangement comprises a number of disadvantages. It is difficult to place the images precisely in the right location in the holder, and the image can still be displaced, particularly at the attachment stage. Because of this displacement, the image converted to electrical format may be distorted. The correction of such a distortion by image processing software may be possible to some extent, but such correcting measures are often taken at the cost of the resolution of the image. Furthermore, the attachment of the image by various adhesive-based attaching means will damage both the image and the holder. For the same reason, the image is easily damaged when it is detached from the holder. The holders are opaque except for the image area, wherein at least a part of the edges of the image fails to be converted. Because it is laborious to attach and detach the images, the conversion of, for example, image archives to electrical format is slow and requires a lot of strenuous and precise manual work, which will also increase the costs of such archiving.
  • the invention is based on the idea that the archiving holder is provided with fastening means which can be used to place the image in the correct position and to fasten it without separate attaching means and attaching stages.
  • the present invention is primarily characterized in that the archiving holder consists of at least a first part and a second part which are placed on top of each other, that at least one opening is formed substantially in the same location in the first and second parts, and that at least one opening is provided with at least one fastening means for fastening the image in a detachable manner in the archiving holder.

  • the fixing means 12 can also be used for archiving purposes to place the image in archives, in a file or the like.
  • the archiving holder 1 is used, for example, in such a way that images to be converted are placed in the archiving holder 1 , after which the archiving holder 1 is placed either directly in the scanner or the archiving holder 1 is first placed in an input device which is placed in the scanner. After this, the image is converted to electrical format and stored in a way known as such. After the conversion step, the archiving holder 1 is removed from the scanner (and from the input device, if one was used). After this, the archiving holder can be placed in the archives without detaching the images or, if necessary, the images can be detached from the archiving holder. The above-presented steps are iterated until all the images have been converted to electrical format.
  • the conversion of image archives to electrical format can be made significantly faster than when using solutions of prior art. Furthermore, the image archives are easier to use, because the images do not need to be detached and attached for the time of the electrical conversion. Furthermore, the images will not be damaged to a significant degree, even if the same images were often transferred from the archives to the scanner and back to the archives, as long as the images are stored in the archiving holder according to the invention.
  • the openings can also be arranged, for example, in such a way that the image is placed in its position in the direction from the side edge.
