Abstract

The invention relates to a display device (02) with an image surface (04) on which image contents (05, 06, 07, 11, 12) can be displayed in an electronically controllable fashion, wherein the image surface (04) has a two-dimensional extent in the X direction and in the Y direction, wherein the display device (02) interacts with a proximity sensor system, wherein the distance and/or the change in distance between an operator control element or body part (03) from the image surface (04) in the Z direction and the relative position and/or the changes in relative position of the operator control element or of the body part (03) relative to the image surface (04) in the X direction and in the Y direction can be detected by means of the proximity sensor system, and wherein the image content (06, 07, 11, 12) which is displayed on the image surface (04) can be changed under programme control as a function of the position of the operator control element or body part (03) which is detected by means of the proximity sensor system.
